We invite you to come and play with us - Julie Puentes, Margaret Webb and the Horse Link Herd - for what is bound to be a special day in Bastrop, TX (an easy 45 minute drive from Austin).
Equine Assisted Coaching is a really unique experience because it helps to shine a light on the importance of self-care while caring for another being. This kind of engagement based coaching helps parents get out of their thinking minds and back into the present moment. It is in the present moment that you can notice the energy behind your words, emotions and clarity of intention which can be really helpful once back home while engaging and communicating with your child.
Because these amazing four legged teachers are prey animals that depend on one another to stay safe, they pick up on and respond to the energy that one is putting out …JUST LIKE OUR KIDS!! The big difference is that horses don’t hold onto stories about things going wrong or things that are scary. They shake it off and move on with life, taking care of themselves first in order to keep the herd safe. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get to play with doing the same so you can have more peace and joy as a parent without guilt?
This type of coaching experience also allows parents to get a different perspective on areas of struggle and tension. Often times, the story and meaning that we give something, like a diagnosis or behavior challenge, isn’t always what it seems or doesn’t have to have the intense meaning that we give it. This is a loving and supportive environment to try on different ways of being to really feel more confident in trusting what feels true at any given moment.
An added layer of this fun is that it changes with each horse since they each have their own energy and personalities…just like our kids! I cannot control or force a horse OR my child to do/be a certain way but what I can do is to notice the feedback that I’m being given and use that to determine what I can try next.
This is so empowering as a parent because while we cannot control another being, including a horse, we can learn and practice…
curiosity in times of confusion and fear
self care in the midst of big energy
setting an intention, giving it attention, and then releasing tension
taking our metaphorical blinders off in order to get more of a big picture idea of what might be going on
the difference between leading and controlling
If you are new to playing with energy, this is such a wonderful place to start. If you are not new to it, this is a wonderful opportunity to see it in another way.
Horses allow us to play with the energy and it’s so fun because you can play around with this and get immediate feedback from the horse…just like with our kids and then take it back to real, everyday life and see what feedback we may have not been aware of before.
